Maureen Denise McCormick is the only child and youngest of Richard McCormick. Her birth date was August 5th, 1956, in Woodland Hills. Her father taught school as her mother remained at her home. Michael, Dennis and Kevin are three of her older brothers. From a young time, McCormick loved to sing and dance. She would frequently put on shows with puppets to entertain the children of the neighborhood. At the tender age of six, McCormick won her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley competition. The result was that she would get a phone message by Pat Domigan at the Jack Wormser Agency asking whether she would consider pursuing an employment within the entertainment business. McCormick got her first big break in 1964. She starred in the television advertisement of Mattel's "Baby Pattaburp" doll" which was Mattel's latest doll. That same year, she appeared in a second commercial for Mattel's doll "Chatty Caty" She was soon cast at the La Jolla Playhouse to play in the character of eldest daughter on the upcoming TV sitcom called The Brady Bunch. McCormick won a 1969 audition of 1,200 children to become the youngest of three twin daughters in the TV series The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson and Robert Reed played newlyweds who lived in a household that blended. The show ran for 5 seasons. McCormick in her autobiography"Surviving" Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice released in 2008, revealed that, during the 5th season of the show, McCormick almost lost her relationship with her brother Barry Williams. He was just 19. She was just 16. "It would have happened," she said, "but it was not the time suitable for us."
